How to Migrate from Rediff Pro to Google Workspace: A Step-by-Step Guide (2026)
We will use Google’s own easy tool called the “Data Migration Service” (DMS). Follow the steps below for Rediff to Google Workspace migration.
Think of this process like moving Business From one Place to other:
-
Get the Keys: Set up the new house (Google Workspace accounts).
-
Hire Movers: Tell Google to go fetch your old stuff (Migration).
-
Change Address: Tell the post office to send new mail to the new house (MX Records).
Step 1: First Step in Rediff to Google Workspace Migration
Before you touch any buttons, you need a list.
-
List of Emails & Passwords: You need the current email address and current password for every Rediff account you want to move.
-
Critical: If a user doesn’t know their Rediff password, reset it now. You cannot migrate without it.
-
-
Create Users in Google:
-
Log in to your Google Admin Console (
admin.google.com). -
Go to Directory > Users.
-
Click “Add new user” and create the accounts (e.g.,
rahul@yourcompany.com) exactly as they will be.
-

2: Second Step in Rediff to Google Workspace Migration
Now we tell Google how to talk to Rediff.
Step 1: Open the Migration Tool
-
In Google Admin, go to Data > Data Import & Export > Data Migration.
-
Click “Set up data migration”.
Step 2: Configure the Source (Rediff)
-
Source: Select “Other IMAP Server” (Rediff uses IMAP).
-
Connection Protocol: Select “IMAP”.
-
Server Address: Enter
imap.rediffmailpro.com-
Note: If you are on an older plan, it might be
pop.rediffmailpro.com, but tryimapfirst, as it is better.
-
-
Port: Enter
993. -
Security: Ensure SSL/TLS is checked.
-
Click Connect.
Step 3: Set up Migration Options
-
Migration Start Date: Choose “Custom Date” and pick a date (e.g., 1 year ago) if you want to save time. Or choose “Past Forever” to migrate everything.
-
Migration Options: Check the boxes for “Exclude Junk/Trash” to speed things up.
3: Third Step in Rediff Pro to Google Workspace Migration
Now we actually move the data.
Step 1: Add a User
-
Click “Add User”.
-
Source Email: Enter the Rediff email (e.g.,
info@namastu.com). -
Password: Enter the Rediff password.
-
Google Email: Start typing the name of the user you created in Phase 1 (e.g.,
info@namastu.com) and select it.
Step 2: Start and Monitor
-
Click Start.
-
The status will change from “Initialising” to “In Progress”.
-
Wait. Depending on how much mail you have, this can take a few hours.
-
Success: It will say “Completed” or show a green bar (100%).
-
Failure: If it says “Authentication Failed,” the Rediff password is wrong. Check it and try again.
-
4: Fourth Step in Rediff Pro to Google Email Migration
Right now, new emails are still going to Rediff. Once the migration (Phase 3) is mostly done (e.g., 90%), you need to switch the flow to Google.
Step 1: Log into your Domain Provider
This is where you bought your website name (e.g., GoDaddy, BigRock, Hostinger).
Step 2: Change MX Records
-
Find the “DNS Management” or “Name Server” section.
-
Look for records labeled “MX”.
-
Delete the old Rediff records (they usually say
mail.rediffmailpro.com). -
Add these new Google records:
| Type | Priority | Destination / Value |
| MX | 1 | ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM |
| MX | 5 | ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM |
| MX | 5 | ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM |
| MX | 10 | ALT3.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM |
| MX | 10 | ALT4.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM |
Step 3: Wait 1 Hour
It takes about 1–24 hours for the internet to realise you moved. During this time, keep checking both Rediff and Google.
5: Fifth Step in Rediff to Google Workspace Migration
Some emails might have arrived at Rediff while you were changing the MX records. To get them:
-
Go back to the Google Migration tool.
-
Do NOT stop the migration yet.
-
Hover over your users and click “Run Delta” or “Retry”.
-
Google will check Rediff one last time and grab any new emails that slipped through.
