Q1. What is the difference between a switch and a router?
Ans. Switch- It is a device which use to connect different network devices. It is a layer 2 device. The switch transfers the data to that port they meant for. It creates a MAC table to transfer the data to the appropriate port. Router- It is a device that is used to connect different network ID. It is a layer 3 device. The router is also a switch, but it uses routing protocols to forward the traffic.
Q2. What is the use of a modem?
Ans. The modem is an external or internal device whose function is to transfer digital data over the communication line. The modem is also used to build a connection between a computer and the internet to convert analogue waves to digital waves.
Q3. What is the OSI reference model, and how many layers they have, and what are they?
Ans. OSI-Open system interconnection is a conceptual model that is used to define the networking framework to implement the protocols in the seven-layer model. By this, we can understand how the data travels between those layers. There are seven layers in the OSI model:
1) APPLICATION LAYER
2) PRESENTATION LAYER
3) SESSION LAYER
4) TRANSPORT LAYER
5) NETWORK LAYER
6) DATA-LINK LAYER
7) PHYSICAL LAYER
Q4.What is the IP address? How many classes are there? What is the IP range?
Ans. – IP is a set of rules for communication, and it is a unique address of network and devices.it is the platform for the identification of the network. It is two types of IP: public IP. Its version IP v4 and IP v6. It has five class A, B, C, D, E There are a range of all five class:- Class A: – 0 – 126 (127 is reserved for loop back) Class B: – 128 – 191 Class C: – 192 – 223 Class D: – 224 – 239 (used for multi-casting) Class E: – 240 – 255 (used for research and development)
Q5. What is the use of DNS?
Ans. DNS stands for domain naming service. It is used to covert name to an IP and an IP to a name.
Q6. How to join the domain server?
Ans. First, we have to give power to our PC
Step 1- We have to right-click on this pc menu.
Step 2- We have to select the properties.
Step 3: Click on the change settings
Step 4-we got another tab of System Properties, then click on Change.
Step 5: Click on the domain radio button, then give the name of the domain.
Step 6- After that, the authentication box will appear and we give correct user name and password, The WELCOME wizard will appear.
Q7.How to remove from the domain?
Ans. We have to follow the same step as given above but in step 5 We have to click on the work-group radio button after that we can move from domain to work-group.
Q8.How to enable telnet in Windows 10?
Ans. Step 1-click on control panel > Click on program and features > turn off or on windows feature Step 2- Then a box will appear then > then select Telnet client >ok then changes will apply.
Q9. If your PC’s Internet doesn’t work then how to troubleshoot?
Ans. i) first we have to check the network cable is connected or not ii) If connected then check the IP address. iii) Default gateway pinging or not, DNS is correct or incorrect. iii) Also, check the proxy settings.
Q10. Tell me the step of assigning IP address on desktop.

Ans. First, open the Run > type ncpa. cpl> right click on Ethernet connection > click on IPv4> properties > then click on assigning IP manually> then give the IP, sub-net mask then saves it.
Q11. What is the outlook?
Ans. The outlook is an application of MS-Office.it is used to send and receive mail from the mail server. It is also used to synchronize the mail from our different email accounts.
Q12. Difference between ost and pst?
Ans. OST-offline storage template and PST- Personal storage template These files are the backup files of the outlook. Q14. How to login PC from a domain Account?
Ans. first, we have to give USERNAME and PASSWORD that provided by the Ad > click on the login
Q15. How to login PC with a local user account if it is already in a domain?
Ans. We have to type .\username and password > click on the login
Q16. What is DNS?
Ans. A domain naming service is used to resolve the name to IP and IP to name.
Q17. If the domain user wants to change the password from his PC, how to change it?
Ans. First, we have to open control panel >user accounts >make changes to my account> sign in options > change password>OK
Q18.What is the command to open the group policy wizard on PC?
Ans. The command is gpedit.msc.
